Hello and Welcome!
This blog is about the creations and adventures of an Alaskan homesteader. This is my first post and I'd like to tell a little about myself. I am a wildlife biologist and wife. I am transitioning into becoming a business owner. My interests cover a very wide spectrum. But my business is based on the slow food movement, local food, and natural, chemical-free products. I am still in the beginning stages and am in the process of applying for a micro-loan to cover my start-up costs. I will be selling goods primarily at our local farmer's market in Fairbanks, Alaska. Fresh vegetables from my garden, home-made soaps with fresh goat's milk and honey from our farm, and high quality essential oils. Fermented foods such as lacto-fermented pickles, sauerkraut, and kimchee. Home made sodas and syrups, fruit leathers, and the fermented non-alcoholic beverages beet kvass and kombucha. Soon I hope to start a website for my business so if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them! I hope to have pictures posted soon, but it may be a couple days with all the busy-ness going on.
Cheers!
